These laptops go one step further than the Redmibooks or Mi Notebooks. With the launch of the powerful Redmi G last year Xiaomi entered the ultra-fast notebook market.

This improved version of the Redmi G, despite having similar features, has an important improvement: a screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz, up from 144Hz in the 2021 version. A seemingly small improvement, but one that is crucial in competitive gaming.

Clearly this Xiaomi laptop is shaping up to compete in the ever-growing mobile gaming market. This new computer also comes with the inclusion of Intel’s 12th generation processors, which were a huge leap in speed over previous offerings from the blue team. 1) Versions and differences of the Xiaomi laptop

The Xiaomi Redmi G (2022) laptop from Europe has 3 different versions. In all cases, 2 aspects vary: processor and graphics card. Regarding the processor, it can be Intel i5-12450H or Intel i7-12650H.

Finally, the graphics card can be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 with 4GB dedicated GDDR6 for the i5 and i7 versions, while the more powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4GB dedicated GDDR6 only comes in the most expensive version with the i7.

2) Processor in the Redmi G (2022)

The Redmi G (2022) from Europe has two processor options, the Intel i5-12450H, which can be combined with both the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, while the other alternative, the Intel i7-11370H, is only available with the “Ti” option, i.e. the more powerful of the two.

In more detail, the Intel i5-12450H is Intel’s 12th generation of processors, the latest and most powerful to date. It reaches up to 4.4GHz of turbo power, with 3.3GHz of normal, and has 8 cores (octacore) and 12 threads, as well as three-level cache at 12MB.

The other variant, which is the most powerful, has an Intel i7-12650H, also of the latest (12th) generation. This reaches 4.7GHz in turbo, and 3.5GHz in normal, a tremendous 10 cores (tencore) and 16 threads, but with three-level cache at 24MB, a huge amount and double that of the i5’s 12.

3) Xiaomi notebook from Europe graphics card

The Xiaomi Redmi G (2022) Europe has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 with both processors, with 4GB dedicated. In its other case, we find the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card only for the more powerful processor (i7). Both cards are very powerful, although the Ti is about 10% faster.

All versions of this laptop are good for playing the latest and greatest games, but the option with the i7 and the 3050 Ti graphics card will help you get the most out of the 165Hz screen refresh.

4) RAM memory of the Xiaomi Redmi G (2022) Laptop

On this occasion, Xiaomi has gone all out, and all versions come with 16GB of DDR5 RAM as standard. This is a clear statement of intent in terms of power and quality, which can be seen in every aspect of this laptop. It also improves to 4800MHz dual-channel, the fastest speed of any Xiaomi laptop to date.

5) Storage space of the Xiaomi notebook

The Xiaomi Redmi G (2022) laptop has only versions with 512GB SSD storage in all cases. It is very important to note that this is M.2 NVMe storage space, a much faster format than the normal SSDs that laptops are implementing.

The computer contains an expansion platform for another M.2 format stick of up to 8TB. Basically: if you need another 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, or more, just buy an M.2 form factor SSD and install it, a process made much easier by the construction of the laptop (all you need is a screwdriver!).

6) Design of the Xiaomi Redmi G laptops (2022)

This is a field where all Xiaomi Gaming laptops stand out enormously. Let’s be clear: if you look around, you will find another laptop with similar technical specifications. However, when you ask them:

• • They have a “transportable” weight (living up to their “portable” name).
  • A modern, innovative, gamer design that allows for better cooling of ultra-fast components.
  • And that it is made of premium materials (all-metal).

All this “put together” in the clean and organised way of Xiaomi laptops from Europe, you can easily go for prices ranging from double that of Xiaomi laptops, up to 3-4 times more, being their close cousins the gamer computers from ASUS or Gigabyte.

The Xiaomi Redmi G notebook features a 16-inch display (which we’ll talk about in detail in a moment in the next section). The difference lies in the thin margins of the screen, with an excellent screen-to-space ratio, making the most of the available space and improving its appearance.

7) Xiaomi Redmi G laptop (2022) Europe screen

As we mentioned a moment ago, our favourite laptop has a 16″ screen. But this time Xiaomi has pulled out all the stops. It’s not just a high-definition screen, but a screen with a high refresh rate and 2.5K resolution (2560 x 1600).

It has a brightness of 500 nits and a contrast ratio of 1200:1, with a very high refresh rate of 165Hz with G-Sync refresh technology. The above resolution is combined with a 16:10 display ratio. In addition, it is an anti-glare reinforced display with a 178° viewing angle.

Also very interesting are the extremely thin bezels that give a modern, clean look and maximise the screen-to-body ratio to 90.8%.

In terms of screen size (and consequently, the size of the entire laptop itself), the Redmibook line has the largest options in this regard. It goes from the 16.1″ of the Redmibook 16, to the 13″, the Xiaomi Redmibook 14, the successor of the latter, the Xiaomi Redmibook 14 II, or the new Redmibook 14 Pro and Redmibook 15 Pro, launched in March 2021.

The rest of Xiaomi laptops, to date, are 15.6″ (Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 15, Xiaomi Mi Gaming, Xiaomi Redmi G Gaming, etc.), the most common size on the market, with the exception of the old Xiaomi Mi Air 13 and Xiaomi Mi Air 12.5, or the new Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 14, launched in March 2021.

12) Weight, dimensions and system

To close, some basic data about your new Xiaomi laptop. It’s 360.5mm long and 261mm wide, with a thickness of 22.3mm. Weight-wise, it’s right at 2.4kg, and as mentioned above, the weight is due to the internal copper and metal components, plus the fan, all to keep the processor and board cool.

It’s running Windows 11 Home Edition, probably the most comfortable and easy to use operating system of the moment for everyone.
